Officials of the Walloon Region in the last decade offer considerable efforts to not only revive the cultivation of industrial hemp, but also to enter the products produced by growers of the country, in different production chain - from product direction and zoobusiness to production of light industry products, bioplastics, as well as promising pharmaceuticals.

Konoplevodstvo Belgium over the past two centuries to languish, and it was practically destroyed by the end of the twentieth century. However, officials of Wallonia in the last decade have made significant efforts to not only revive the cultivation of industrial hemp, but also to enter the products produced by growers of the country, in different production chain - from product direction and zoobusiness to production of light industry products, bioplastics, and promising pharmaceuticals.

In particular, in 2009, under the leadership of the Minister of Agriculture at the time of Wallonia Benoit Lyutgena it began the process of rebirth konoplevodstva this part of Belgium. At the end of January 2016 the incumbent Minister of Agriculture of the Walloon René Colin provided a grant in the amount of about € 250,000, intended to double the commercial industrial hemp crops until 2020 and achieve acreage of 1,000 hectares.

In accordance with the statement of the representative association of growers Wallonia Thierry Joey, "For farmers, the cultivation of industrial hemp cultivation technology has huge advantages over other crops. On the one hand it does not require special treatment or specific care, in spite of the fact that sowing and harvesting companies have a number of features. On the other hand, raw materials produced are extremely interested in manufacturers of textiles and knitwear, as well as companies specializing in the creation of biocomposite materials, using them in the automotive and aviation industry. "

According to Terry Joey historically hemp fiber is used for making ropes, sails, rigging and marine networks. Today's methods of processing hemp raw materials allow the use of hemp seed as a basis of a number of the most valuable in demand in the market of food stuffs for humans and animals, as well as for the Fish. However, the most highly profitable part of the plant is a trust from which produced textiles, various kinds of paper, biocomposite materials for air and automobile. The wood part of the plant is converted into insulating panels, mulch for animals or for gardening. In the case of mixing in certain proportions with lime or cement, fire active way of use in Europe as a building material. At the end of 2015, the Association of growers Wallonia asked pharmaceutical companies who are looking for growers in Belgium, able to grow hemp malonarkoticheskuyu rich uncontrolled cannabinoids (cannabidiol and kannabihromenom). It is this activity growers in Belgium is extremely promising, since the medical field all over the world in recent times very actively developed and will continue to bring the best return for agricultural producers of the country, specializing in the cultivation of industrial hemp.

According to Belgian specialists, commercial cultivation of industrial hemp is not developed to date, not only in Flanders but also in Wallonia. Farmers cultivating industrial hemp are mainly located in the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg. The absence of well-functioning chain of cultivation, processing, sales does not allow for the moment the Belgian growers to compete with their French, British or German counterparts. That is why the members of the Association growers Wallonia discusses the need for the joint acquisition of specialized equipment in Flanders in order to "start" the primary processing of hemp fiber in his region.
